Overview

The System Modeling and Renewable Technology (SMART) Lab is a multidisciplinary lab that focuses on education, research and outreach as its primary goal to make Texas State University one of the leading institutions in renewable energy and technology. To compete and lead in this field, it is important to have a multidisciplinary faculty and research facility. The SMART Lab has received great support from Texas State University administration, including Dr. Denise M. Trauth, President of the University and Provost Dr. Eugene Bourgeois. Besides this support, the facility needed new equipment and a clear mission to reach its goal to be one of the top renewable energy labs in Central Texas. The State of Texas Energy Conservation Office (SECO) supported this goal with its Innovative Energy Demonstration Grant Program. This grant made it possible for the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University to have a top-notch renewable energy lab.
